Mumbai, India – Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), India’s leading port operator, has announced an ambitious goal: doubling its revenue by the end of fiscal year 2029. The company, which currently manages over a quarter of the country’s cargo throughput, is projecting ₹65,500 crore in annual income—nearly twice its present figures.

The strategy is not based on speculation but on a planned expansion of port capacity, broader integration of logistics services, and selective international investments. “This is about deepening our role as a logistics backbone for India and stepping more confidently onto the global stage,” stated a senior official from APSEZ during a closed-door briefing.

Currently operating 14 ports across India, from Mundra on the west coast to Dhamra on the east, the group plans to upgrade existing terminals, enhance container handling automation, and build new inland logistics corridors. A particular emphasis is being placed on digital transformation—APSEZ is investing in AI systems to optimize cargo tracking, berth scheduling, and customs coordination.

Yet growth is not limited to India. The company is also studying partnerships in regions such as East Africa and the Middle East, where demand for modern port infrastructure remains high. These efforts, executives say, will allow Adani Ports to become a more influential player in South-South trade flows.

Environmental performance is being positioned as a core component of this expansion. The company reaffirmed its commitment to reduce carbon intensity across operations, with plans to transition several ports to partial renewable energy usage and to deploy electric handling equipment where feasible.

Analysts view the target as bold but grounded. “Adani is reading the moment well,” said a logistics consultant in New Delhi. “As global supply chains look for alternative hubs, Indian ports—if managed smartly—are in a prime position. Adani wants to make sure it’s at the front of that movement.”

The announcement comes as India continues to prioritize maritime development under the PM Gati Shakti initiative. With infrastructure spending rising and cargo volumes recovering from pandemic disruptions, Adani’s timing may prove opportune.
