Lognet Global, the independent freight forwarder network powered by WCAworld, has announced the appointment of Cecilia Markez as its new Managing Director. The announcement was made during the recent Lognet Global Conference in Panama City, where logistics professionals and network members from around the world gathered for the organization’s annual event.
The appointment marks another step in Lognet Global’s strategy to strengthen its leadership structure and support the continued development of its international network of independent freight forwarders.
Markez brings more than 20 years of experience in logistics and freight forwarding to the position. She hails from Argentina and began her career in a freight forwarding company in her home country before expanding her professional experience in New Zealand, where she honed her operational and industry knowledge.
Later, she came to the WCAworld headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand on her international journey. During her two years there, she took responsibility for the organization’s claims and financial protection program, a role she would continue to oversee for the next 12 years. This experience provided her with extensive knowledge of risk management, member support, financial protection mechanisms and global network operations.
Today, Markez serves as Vice President for Latin America at WCAworld and is based in Miami. In this role, she oversees member relations and network development for the Latin American region, working with freight forwarders to drive growth initiatives, improve cooperation and support members to harness the full benefits of WCAworld’s global resources and services.
Commenting on her appointment, Markez expressed her enthusiasm about leading the network into its next phase of development.
“I am honored to take on the role of Managing Director of Lognet Global and continue working alongside such a dynamic and professional membership base. Having worked within WCAworld for many years and closely with members across Latin America, I understand the importance of strong relationships, trust and practical support within a network environment. I look forward to helping Lognet Global continue to grow and deliver value to members around the world,” she said.
WCAworld’s leadership welcomed the appointment, highlighting Markez’s extensive industry expertise, international perspective and long-standing commitment to supporting independent freight forwarders worldwide.
David Yokeum, Chairman of WCAworld, described her as a natural choice for the position.
“Cecilia’s experience, industry knowledge and dedication to member success make her an excellent choice to lead Lognet Global. She understands the challenges and opportunities facing independent freight forwarders today and brings a strong global perspective to the role,” he stated.
The appointment is a reflection of Lognet Global’s ongoing commitment to growing its international footprint, while improving the services and opportunities for its members. With stronger partnerships, deeper collaboration and more business development opportunities, the network aims to further support independent freight forwarders operating in an increasingly competitive and interconnected global logistics environment.
Markez will lead Lognet Global into a new chapter with a vision to accelerate international growth, increase member engagement and continue to build a more connected and collaborative global freight forwarding community.
