Good Culture has appointed consumer packaged goods veteran Kirk Jensen as its new chief operating officer, expanding its leadership structure as the cottage cheese brand prepares to scale its operations and support continued growth.

Jensen will oversee supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, logistics and quality, according to a company press release emailed to Supply Chain Dive.

His role will focus on strengthening Good Culture’s supply chain and manufacturing operations, with the goal of improving product availability and shortening the time it takes for products to reach retail shelves. At the same time, the company intends to maintain the recipes, ingredients and quality standards expected by its consumers, CEO and co-founder Jesse Merrill said in an email.

Before Jensen joined the company, Didier Aziza held both the COO and CFO positions, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“Bringing in a dedicated COO lets us add the operational depth and infrastructure we’ll need for our next phase,” Merrill said.

Good Culture is also establishing a new director of logistics position, which the company is currently filling. According to Merrill, the new director will be responsible for optimizing the company’s distribution network as Good Culture expands.

Jensen brings more than 20 years of operations leadership experience in the packaged food sector, Good Culture said in its release. He previously served for more than two years as COO of The Honest Kitchen, where he continues to work as an advisor.

His earlier experience includes nearly six years as COO and chief supply chain officer at Sovos Brands. During that period, Jensen helped scale Rao’s spaghetti sauce brand and contributed to Sovos reaching more than $1 billion in net sales before Campbell Soup Company acquired the business in 2024, according to Good Culture.

Merrill pointed to Jensen’s experience in refrigerated manufacturing, complex partner ecosystems and supply chain expansion as key factors behind the appointment.

“His deep expertise in refrigerated manufacturing, complex partner ecosystems, and scaling supply chains makes him a particularly strong fit for Good Culture as we enter this next phase of growth,” Merrill said.

Jensen said in the company’s release that Good Culture’s growth trajectory was a “compelling opportunity.”

The appointment comes after a series of investments aimed at supporting that expansion. Private-equity firm L Catterton acquired a majority stake in Good Culture in January, with the company planning to use the investment to increase production capacity and accelerate its growth.

One month later, Semcap Food & Nutrition provided Good Culture with an additional $55 million to further finance the company’s expansion. Semcap first partnered with Good Culture in 2021.

With Jensen now leading its operational functions and a dedicated logistics director position being added, Good Culture is building out the infrastructure it says it needs to support higher production, stronger distribution capabilities and greater retail availability as the company moves into its next phase.
