Global GSA Group has appointed Kevin Wang as Managing Director of GGG in Taiwan, placing an experienced airline executive at the helm of its local operations as the group looks to strengthen its commercial position in one of Asia’s most important air cargo markets.
Wang’s long-term ambition is to establish Global GSA Group Taiwan as one of the region’s most influential and trusted GSSA businesses. His strategy will focus not only on expanding the company’s airline partnerships, but also on building a professional, proactive and commercially driven local team capable of combining Global GSA Group’s international resources with a detailed understanding of the Taiwanese market.
Aytekin Saray, CEO of Global GSA Group, says: “Kevin brings extensive airline experience and a strong understanding of the local market, which will be key as we continue to develop our presence in Taiwan. His appointment reflects our approach to growth: combining the strength of our global network with experienced local leadership to create greater commercial value for our airline partners.”
For Wang, the new role represents an opportunity to approach the air cargo market from a broader commercial perspective after decades spent working within the airline industry.
“We want international capability and Taiwanese expertise to work seamlessly together, giving carriers a responsive commercial partner equipped to deliver sustained success across the market,” he says.
“After many years in the air cargo industry, I wanted to take on a different perspective and use my experience to help more airlines develop their cargo business in Taiwan and create greater commercial value, rather than serving only a single airline.”
Global GSA Group describes itself as one of the world’s leading GSSA groups, supported by an extensive global network, a diverse portfolio of airline partnerships and a professional commercial team. The group’s model combines global resources with strong local market expertise, giving Wang and his team the opportunity to apply his previous airline management experience to a wider range of customers and partners.
“I look forward to working closely with our global team to further strengthen Global GSA Group’s competitiveness in Taiwan and create more business opportunities for our airline partners and customers,” Wang says.
Broad management responsibilities
As Managing Director of Global GSA Group Taiwan, Wang will oversee the company’s overall management, operational performance and business development, while holding full P&L responsibility.
His responsibilities will include leading the local team, improving operational quality, developing airline partnerships and strengthening relationships with freight forwarders and key customers. The objective will be to combine the group’s global network, digital cargo data and market intelligence with local expertise to develop commercially focused solutions for airline partners.
In the short term, Wang’s priority will be to reinforce Global GSA Group’s position in Taiwan and establish the business as a trusted commercial partner for airlines operating in the market. That will mean deepening existing relationships, improving service and commercial performance, while also identifying new partnership opportunities.
Taiwan’s high-tech economy offers cargo opportunities
Wang sees Taiwan’s role in global high-tech manufacturing as a major source of air cargo potential.
“Taiwan’s importance to global high-tech manufacturing provides considerable air cargo potential,” he says.
Semiconductors, including ICs and wafers, AI servers, server racks, GPUs and PCBs are among the products supporting Taiwan’s export flows. Drones, automotive parts, precision equipment and premium seasonal fruit also contribute to demand and reinforce the country’s position within international supply chains.
North America and Europe remain key long-haul markets for Taiwan, while major Southeast Asian destinations, including Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, represent additional areas with strong growth potential.
Wang identifies several high-growth cargo sectors that Global GSA Group can target, including semiconductors, AI equipment, electronics, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, temperature-controlled freight and cross-border e-commerce.
Three decades of airline experience
Wang brings 30 years of airline experience to the position, including both headquarters responsibilities and overseas management assignments in Dallas, Manila, Bangkok and Xiamen.
His background covers cargo sales and commercial management, revenue management, network planning and operations. That combination gives him an airline management perspective that he believes can help partners improve route performance, optimise revenue and uncover new commercial opportunities.
The role of GSSAs is also changing, according to Wang. Airlines increasingly expect their sales and representation partners to contribute market intelligence, commercial strategy and effective local execution rather than simply providing traditional sales support.
At the same time, freight forwarders are looking for responsiveness, professionalism and dependable operational support.
Technology will be an important part of addressing those expectations.
“Technology will undoubtedly underpin this approach,” Wang says. “Data analytics, business intelligence and digital tools will support me and my team to make faster decisions, develop stronger market understanding and improve the processes.”
For Wang, technology is therefore not simply an additional capability but a management priority. Encouraging its adoption across the Taiwan team, monitoring implementation and removing barriers to its effective use will remain central to his approach as he works to build Global GSA Group’s next phase of growth in the market.
