Hapag-Lloyd, a leading global shipping company, has completed the acquisition of SAAM’s ports and logistics business, a move aimed at strengthening its presence in Latin America. The deal, valued at approximately $1 billion, includes ten port terminals and several logistics services across Latin America, enhancing Hapag-Lloyd’s service offerings in the region. This acquisition is part of the company’s strategic plan to expand its terminal business and improve integration across its logistics chain. CEO Rolf Habben Jansen stated that the acquisition would enable Hapag-Lloyd to offer more comprehensive solutions to its customers and further solidify its market position in one of the fastest-growing regions for global trade.
