American Airlines Cargo is gearing up for a robust summer season with a significant expansion of its trans-Atlantic services, launching new direct flights from key European cities to six major U.S. gateways. The enhanced network, beginning in April and running through the peak shipping season, is poised to bolster capacity across the Atlantic, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific regions.
Strategic Trans-Atlantic Additions
Out of Europe, American Airlines Cargo is introducing multiple new routes, including:
- Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
- Edinburgh Airport (EDI) and Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
- Naples International Airport (NAP) and Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
- Athens International Airport (ATH) to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT)
- Rome-Fiumicino International Airport (FCO) to Miami International Airport (MIA)
These seasonal routes will begin operating this month, with many continuing through October, aligning with anticipated demand and providing critical capacity during the busiest months of the year.
The carrier’s trans-Atlantic schedule also includes a notable boost in flights from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to DFW, increasing to five daily flights as of April.
Expanding Reach in Latin America and Asia-Pacific
In Latin America, cargo service is increasing between MIA and Buenos Aires International Airport (EZE), with American Airlines operating two daily flights from April through October. Meanwhile, in the Asia-Pacific region, the airline is deploying larger aircraft to meet growing demand, unlocking additional capacity for both eastbound and westbound trade flows.
Robust Domestic Connectivity
American Airlines is also maintaining a strong domestic widebody presence, with flights between DFW and key hubs including MIA, ORD, and PHL. This internal connectivity ensures seamless cargo transfers between domestic and international routes throughout the U.S. summer season.
Customer-Centric Expansion
“We are excited about the many new routes out of Europe as well as the increased capacity in our Asia-Pacific region that our summer schedule will bring,” said Roger Samways, Vice President of Commercial for American Airlines Cargo. “We look forward to the additional opportunities this will provide to serve our customers.”
As supply chains continue to recover and evolve, American Airlines Cargo’s expanded summer schedule offers shippers greater flexibility and access to vital trade corridors.
