Shanghai — Shipping prices between Asia and the United States have fallen further.
Rates to the West Coast are down more than half since June.
The East Coast has seen a similar fall.
Carriers report too many vessels for the cargo available.
Trade tensions and new tariffs have reduced bookings.
Some exporters are holding back shipments.
Ships are being moved to other regions.
Europe and Latin America are now receiving more capacity.
This has kept most vessels filled, even with lower rates.
Analysts say prices will stay low until demand rises or ships are taken out of service.
No recovery is expected in the short term.
