The British International Freight Association has appointed Richard Catt as regional representative for South East England, in a move designed to improve local support for members in Kent and East Sussex.
The new post has been created to narrow the territory previously covered by regional representative Paul Newman, who will now focus on East Anglia and East London.
Catt already sits on BIFA’s Council and its Customs Policy Group and brings extensive sector experience. He previously held senior roles at PSL Group and later Rhenus Logistics following Rhenus’ acquisition of PSL in 2019. He is currently a director of ALS Brokerage Service and will continue in that position.
His background is particularly strong in customs brokerage. He is also a member of the Joint Customs Consultative Committee, the HMRC-backed forum established in 1969 to discuss customs procedures and clearance documentation. In addition, he participates in several industry groups, including the Southern Road Corridor Working Group, Freight Liaison Group and Intermediaries Task Force Group.
BIFA director general Steve Parker said Catt’s wide-ranging forwarding experience and customs knowledge would be especially valuable to members navigating ongoing border process changes. BIFA’s seven regional representatives serve as the association’s local eyes and ears across the UK.
