Cartagena passes the historic milestone of 4 million TEUs in 2025

The Port of Cartagena Group, in Colombia, has just set a symbolic record in the country’s port history: 4 million TEUs handled in a single year. The “4 millionth container” would have been processed on December 25, 2025, marking a peak in performance at the very end of the year.

This trajectory confirms Cartagena’s position as a major hub in regional logistics chains. According to the information relayed by the article, the port would consolidate its position as a leader in containerized traffic in Latin America and the Caribbean, strengthening its role in foreign trade and international flows.

Beyond volume, it is also operational quality that is highlighted: Cartagena relies on productivity standards that have become a key commercial argument for shipping companies, shippers, and freight forwarders—especially in a context where the reliability of port calls and processing speed are once again factors of competitiveness.

The port also claims recent international recognition, relying on global port efficiency rankings that value terminal performance (berthing time, crane productivity, operational fluidity). Result: Cartagena reinforces its image as a “premium” platform for the country’s containerized exports and regional transshipments.
