Gulftainer has introduced a new liner connection between China and the Gulf with the launch of its Khor Fakkan China Express, or KCX 1, service.
The new route will operate on a biweekly rotation and connect key Chinese ports including Qingdao, Shanghai and Nansha with Khor Fakkan.
The UAE port occupies a strategically important position because it is the country’s only major container gateway located outside the Strait of Hormuz, making it accessible without passing through the disputed waterway. That advantage has become particularly significant during the recent Middle East conflict, even though Khor Fakkan itself has also been hit, including attacks on ships anchored off the port.
Operating under Gulftainer’s GT Lines brand, the KCX 1 service will deploy three vessels and provide direct sailings between major Chinese export centres and Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal. The company said the aim is to reduce transit times and improve delivery performance for cargo moving into the UAE and onward into regional Gulf markets.
Gulftainer said the service strengthens Khor Fakkan’s role as a leading consolidation gateway for China-Gulf trade and improves supply chain predictability for shippers using the route.
