Hannover Airport has joined the Board of Airline Representatives in Germany (BARIG), marking a new step in strengthening collaboration between airlines and airport operators.
The partnership will focus on improving operational processes, passenger experience and coordination across key areas such as ground handling, security and sustainability.
BARIG chairman Michael Hoppe highlighted the complexity of airline-airport relationships, noting that closer cooperation is essential to optimise performance across the aviation ecosystem.
Hannover Airport, the only international commercial airport in Lower Saxony, plays a key role in northern Germany’s air transport network. Operating 24/7, it serves both passenger and cargo markets, while also hosting emergency services and maintenance operations.
In 2025, the airport handled around 5.3 million passengers and offers more than 60 direct destinations.
CEO Dr. Martin Roll said the aviation sector in Germany is at a pivotal moment, with digitalisation opening new opportunities for efficiency and growth. He added that collaboration within BARIG will help drive improvements and prepare the industry for future challenges.
