Hapag-Lloyd Orders 10 New Mega Container Ships

German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd has placed an order for 10 new mega container ships as part of its strategy to modernize its fleet and improve environmental performance. The vessels, each with a capacity of 23,500 TEU, will be equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of running on liquefied natural gas (LNG), significantly reducing carbon emissions.

This substantial investment is part of Hapag-Lloyd’s broader sustainability initiative to lower the carbon footprint of its operations by 30% by 2030. The new ships, which will be delivered starting in 2026, will enhance Hapag-Lloyd’s operational efficiency and position the company as a leader in the push for greener shipping solutions.
