JNC Logistics: Powering Advanced Cancer Treatment in China

JNC Logistics has recently undertaken a groundbreaking project to support the development of the Xi’an Proton Therapy Centre, a cutting-edge medical facility in Northwest China dedicated to advanced cancer treatment. The complex logistics involved in transporting and installing critical components demonstrate the company’s expertise in handling oversized and high-value cargo.

Delivering Precision and Excellence

The project involved the shipment and delivery of essential equipment, including:

  • A 95-tonne cyclotron.
  • A 38-tonne pile cap.
  • Two gantry bodies weighing 55 tonnes each.
  • 30 containers filled with supporting materials.

These components were transported from Antwerp and Rotterdam to Shanghai via roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessels before being hauled 1,500 kilometers inland to Xi’an. The intricate logistics required meticulous planning and execution to ensure safe and timely delivery.

Overcoming Unique Challenges

The transport and installation process presented several challenges:

  • Ground Reinforcements: Ports and roads required reinforcement to accommodate the weight of the oversized cargo.
  • Terrain Leveling: At the Xi’an site, ground leveling was essential for the precise placement of equipment.
  • Heavy Equipment Deployment: An 800-tonne crawler crane was utilized to lift and position the components accurately.

These efforts underscore JNC Logistics’ capability to adapt and innovate in the face of logistical and engineering complexities.

Advancing Medical Innovation

The Xi’an Proton Therapy Centre is set to become China’s sixth licensed facility for proton radiation therapy. Proton therapy is renowned for its precision in targeting cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. By enabling the delivery and installation of this sophisticated equipment, JNC Logistics plays a vital role in advancing healthcare innovation in the region.

Setting Industry Standards

JNC Logistics’ successful completion of this project reflects its leadership in the heavy lift and project logistics sector. As a member of The Heavy Lift Group, the company continues to set benchmarks for quality and reliability in managing complex, high-stakes deliveries.

This article highlights the pivotal role of JNC Logistics in supporting medical advancements through exceptional logistics solutions. Stay updated with The Logistic News for more insights into transformative projects and supply chain innovations.
