J&T Express Unveils Milestone ESG Report Highlighting Its Global Green Logistics Strategy

J&T Express, the global logistics powerhouse known for its fast-growing delivery network across Southeast Asia, China, and the Middle East, has released its much-anticipated 2024 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report. The report offers a comprehensive view of the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainable logistics, carbon reduction, and inclusive growth across the 13 markets in which it operates.

With supply chains under increasing pressure to decarbonize, J&T’s report marks a pivotal moment in how large-scale e-commerce logistics operators are embracing environmental accountability without sacrificing service efficiency.

Driving Green Logistics at Scale

At the heart of the ESG report lies J&T’s success in integrating electric vehicles (EVs), energy-efficient sorting centers, and AI-driven routing technologies throughout its global operations. As of the end of 2024, the company reported over 2,000 EVs in operation, along with the implementation of solar-powered systems across key sorting hubs in Indonesia and Vietnam.

The company estimates that its sustainability initiatives resulted in a 6.5% reduction in carbon emissions per parcel, a significant figure considering the millions of packages it processes daily.

“Logistics is not just about speed and cost—it’s increasingly about responsibility,” said Charles Hou, Vice President of J&T Express. “Our 2024 ESG report demonstrates that logistics can be both fast and future-focused. From warehousing to last-mile delivery, we are committed to greener practices.”

Social Impact: Beyond Parcels

While environmental goals often dominate ESG discussions, J&T’s report also shines a spotlight on the company’s social contributions, including disaster relief efforts, community employment, and gender inclusion programs.

In 2024, J&T provided critical logistics support during floods in Malaysia and typhoons in the Philippines, mobilizing rapid-response teams and offering free transport services for emergency supplies. The company also launched a vocational training initiative across Southeast Asia aimed at upskilling over 10,000 youth in logistics and warehouse technologies.

J&T reported that over 40% of its managerial roles are now held by women, a notable figure in an industry traditionally dominated by men.

Governance and Transparency

J&T Express also took steps in 2024 to enhance its internal governance practices, including the adoption of new audit frameworks, cybersecurity protocols, and a supplier code of conduct. These updates reflect the company’s maturing role as a global logistics player, particularly in regions where supply chain integrity and data privacy are growing concerns.

The company’s ESG report was developed in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and includes third-party verification to ensure transparency and accuracy.

An Industry-Wide Signal

J&T’s report sets a new benchmark for the logistics sector, especially among operators in fast-developing markets where regulatory pressure is less intense but stakeholder expectations are quickly rising. As governments across Asia and the Middle East introduce stricter carbon reporting frameworks, J&T’s proactive ESG stance offers both a competitive edge and a model for others to follow.

“ESG is not a checkbox exercise. It’s part of how we define operational excellence,” said Hou. “We believe a sustainable logistics network is one that’s resilient, inclusive, and agile in the face of global change.”
