Liège Airport has appointed Frederic Brun as vice president sales and marketing, reinforcing continuity in its commercial strategy as the Belgian cargo hub continues to expand.
Brun takes over from Torsten Wefers, who is set to leave the airport at the end of the month. He steps into the role after three and a half years as head of commercial cargo and logistics and is already a member of the executive committee.
Prior to joining Liège Airport, Brun spent nine years at DSV, where he worked on route development across multiple regions and later served as branch manager in Liège.
Airport management said Brun would focus on strengthening market leadership in specialised airfreight segments while advancing digitalisation initiatives and maintaining high operational standards.
At the same time, Alexis Lapot will assume Brun’s previous role as head of commercial cargo and logistics.
Within the wider cargo community, changes are also taking place at LGG Connect, the airport’s industry association. Wefers has stepped down as chairman, with Wilfried Jans taking over, while Brun has been appointed vice chairman.
Founded in December 2024, LGG Connect brings together airlines, handlers, forwarders and logistics providers to collaborate on air cargo development initiatives. The association is supported by key industry players including WFS, Swissport and Aviapartner.
Liège Airport continues to develop its long-term CargoLand project, with full completion targeted by 2040.
