By Eva Richardson – The Logistic News

February 27, 2025 – Mammoth Freighters has reached a major milestone in its Boeing 777-300ER passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion program, successfully installing the main cargo door on its inaugural 777-300ERMF aircraft. This development represents a significant step in the growing market for widebody freighter conversions, reinforcing the industry’s need for increased air cargo capacity.

Enhancing Cargo Capabilities

The newly installed main deck cargo door is 16 inches wider than that of the standard Boeing 777F, allowing carriers to transport a broader range of cargo sizes and configurations. This enhancement is expected to offer greater flexibility and operational efficiency for airlines integrating the converted freighter into their fleets.

Strategic Partnerships and Production Timeline

The conversion is being carried out at Aspire MRO’s facility at Fort Worth Alliance Airport, Texas. Mammoth Freighters has secured a partnership with AviaAM Leasing, which has committed to converting six 777-300ERMF aircraft.

The first converted freighter is scheduled to enter commercial service by summer 2025, with additional deliveries planned through mid-2027.

Brian McCarthy, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Mammoth Freighters, emphasized the significance of this achievement:

“The FAA is overseeing the Mammoth Freighter conversion under one project number, with the 777-200LR as the Master STC. Once the 777-200LR certification is issued, it will be amended to include the Mammoth 777-300ER variant.”

Meeting the Growing Demand for Widebody Freighters

The Boeing 777-300ERMF is designed to carry approximately 99 tons of cargo, making it an ideal choice for transatlantic operations between Europe, the U.S., and Asia. The model is expected to meet the increasing demand for high-volume air freight capacity, particularly for trade routes linking China, the EU, and North America.

Mammoth Freighters first announced its 777-200LR and 777-300ER conversion programs in September 2021, with the goal of offering cost-effective, high-performance freighters to the global air cargo industry.

Outlook: The Future of Widebody Conversions

With the air cargo sector facing continued pressure to increase efficiency and capacity, Mammoth’s 777-300ERMF is set to become a key player in the market. By combining advanced engineering, expanded cargo capabilities, and strategic industry partnerships, the program is poised to reshape the next generation of freighter aircraft.
