Mercurius Shipping, a leading Dutch logistics and shipping company, has announced the addition of two new 6,000-deadweight ton (dwt) stainless steel chemical tankers to its growing fleet. This latest order comes from the Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry shipyard in China, with the vessels scheduled for delivery in 2026.

This expansion follows an earlier order of four similar vessels in 2024, bringing Mercurius Shipping’s total orders with the shipyard to six tankers. The move underscores the company’s commitment to meeting rising demand in the global chemical shipping sector.

Strategic Growth in a High-Demand Market
Mercurius Shipping’s investment aligns with industry trends, as small chemical tankers continue to see unprecedented demand. Strong charter rates and increasing requirements for specialized shipping solutions have driven a surge in orders, with industry experts like Simpson Spence Young noting “eye-watering” rates for these vessels.

Strengthening Global Capabilities
