Bodwé Professional Services Group, a tribally owned enterprise based in Southwest Michigan, has been awarded a position on a 10-year, $225 million defense logistics contract. This significant achievement marks a milestone for tribal organizations entering the global logistics sector.

Strategic Partnership and Contract Details

Bodwé, operating under Mno-Bmadsen—the non-gaming investment arm of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi—formed a joint venture with Pennsylvania-based KVG to pursue the Naval Supply Systems Command’s Worldwide Expeditionary Multiple Award Contract (WEXMAC). The WEXMAC is designed to provide rapid logistical support for the U.S. Department of Defense, as well as humanitarian and diplomatic missions globally.

Expanding into Overseas Logistics

In early 2024, Bodwé initiated a strategic plan to explore sectors less frequented by tribally owned organizations, identifying overseas logistics as a key opportunity. Partnering with KVG, known for its expertise in this field, Bodwé aims to establish a strong presence in international logistics support.

Leadership Perspective

Jeremy Berg, Chief Operating Officer at Bodwé, expressed enthusiasm about the contract award:

“We’ve been working on this for a little over 8 months, so it was pretty exciting when we got the award right before the end of the year. It’s a validation of our strategy to grow our footprint in our overseas logistics space.”

Significance for Tribal Organizations

This contract positions Bodwé as a pioneer among tribal organizations in the realm of global logistics support. It lays the foundation for increased tribal participation in humanitarian and defense-related logistical operations worldwide.

Conclusion

Bodwé Professional Services Group’s successful entry into the defense logistics sector underscores the expanding role of tribally owned enterprises in diverse industries. This partnership not only enhances Bodwé’s service capabilities but also contributes to the broader mission of supporting defense and humanitarian efforts globally.
