MSC Air Cargo has taken delivery of its seventh Boeing 777-200 freighter, further expanding the long-haul capabilities of the cargo airline backed by shipping and logistics group MSC.
The aircraft, handed over at Boeing’s Everett Delivery Center in Seattle, is the company’s third Italian-registered 777 freighter and will operate under MSC Air Cargo’s European air operator certificate.
According to the airline, the latest addition comes at a time of sustained demand on Europe-Asia trade lanes and will reinforce the group’s ability to offer dedicated intercontinental capacity. The fleet expansion also supports a broader gateway strategy in Italy, with operations now extending beyond Milan Malpensa to include Rome Fiumicino. Both airports will be connected with Hong Kong, Shanghai Pudong and the newly added Ezhou Huahu.
Chief executive Jannie Davel said each aircraft added to the fleet is a long-term commitment to customers and to the trade lanes the airline serves. Boeing also said the 777F’s payload, range and fuel efficiency make it well suited to supporting MSC’s growth ambitions.
MSC Air Cargo has steadily expanded since launching operations, focusing on specialized and time-sensitive shipments such as pharma, perishables, automotive, aerospace and high-tech cargo. Alongside the aircraft it operates under its European AOC, Atlas Air also flies four 777Fs for MSC under a long-term ACMI agreement.
