In a strategic move to stay ahead of tightening aviation safety regulations, Nolinor Aviation has partnered with AmSafe Bridport to implement advanced Fire Containment Covers (FCCs) and specialised netting across its Boeing 737-200 combi fleet. The solution enables the airline to maintain operational flexibility while fully complying with Canada’s evolving cargo safety mandates.

This collaboration comes in response to Transport Canada’s transition requirement from Class B to Class F cargo compartments, following the cancellation of Alternative Means of Compliance (AMOCs) for Airworthiness Directive 93-07-15. With a June 2025 exemption deadline looming, the pressure is on for operators to adapt—and Nolinor is doing just that.

Understanding Nolinor’s unique operational demands—particularly the need for gravel runway access in remote areas—AmSafe Bridport developed a tailored system. The newly designed FCCs offer up to six hours of passive fire containment, significantly enhancing in-flight safety without compromising the versatility of the 737-200 configuration.

“Developing a solution that safeguards our gravel runway capabilities was imperative,” said Marco Prud’Homme, President of Nolinor Aviation. “By working with AmSafe Bridport, we’ve secured a highly effective fire containment system that not only meets new standards, but also supports our mission of operational excellence.”

Crucially, this system eliminates the need for fixed bulkheads—often considered a costly and inflexible alternative—preserving Nolinor’s capacity to adjust cargo layouts on the fly.

The rollout of the FCCs is already underway, with full compliance expected well ahead of the regulatory cutoff. A comprehensive training programme is also being delivered by AmSafe Bridport to ensure seamless integration of the technology by both flight and ground personnel.

“Nolinor Aviation’s forward-thinking approach perfectly aligns with our commitment to delivering advanced safety solutions,” said Natalie Paul, Vice President of Sales and Engineering at AmSafe Bridport. “Our Fire Containment Covers represent a major leap forward in aviation safety, offering airlines a durable and adaptable alternative to fixed structures.”

With a three-year service life and rigorous inspection protocols, the FCCs mark a durable, practical answer to shifting safety standards in combi aircraft operations.

Together, AmSafe Bridport and Nolinor Aviation are setting a new benchmark—one where compliance, safety, and flexibility converge to shape the next era of cargo aviation.
