Ocean Network Express and LX Pantos Announce Joint Venture to Strengthen US Domestic Intermodal Transportation Services
ADVERTISEMENT

Ocean Network Express (ONE) and LX Pantos have joined forces to launch Boxlinks, a new joint venture aimed at enhancing intermodal freight transportation across the United States. By leveraging rail and trucking partnerships, Boxlinks will optimize inland logistics, reduce inefficiencies, and provide cost-effective solutions for businesses managing supply chains across North America.

A Strategic Approach to Intermodal Freight

Boxlinks will capitalize on underutilized container capacity, ensuring a more efficient flow of goods between coastal ports and inland destinations. Key highlights of this initiative include:

  • Direct partnerships with major U.S. rail operators, including Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern, and BNSF.
  • Improved inland container repositioning, reducing empty container returns and enhancing cargo efficiency.
  • Customized transportation solutions to offer competitive pricing and flexible services for shippers.

Optimizing Supply Chains with Smart Logistics

Boxlinks is designed to address common inefficiencies in U.S. intermodal logistics, particularly the challenge of empty container repositioning. With a large volume of imported containerized cargo, many containers return empty due to insufficient export loads. Boxlinks will tap into this unused capacity, helping businesses reduce transport costs and improve cargo flow.

Industry Leaders on the Boxlinks Initiative

Hiroki Tsujii, Global Chief Officer at ONE, emphasized the company’s vision:
“Through Boxlinks, we are transforming how we deliver value in the United States. By building a more resilient and agile inland network, we aim to optimize intermodal freight transportation for domestic businesses.”

A New Era for U.S. Intermodal Freight

By integrating ocean, rail, and trucking logistics, ONE and LX Pantos are reshaping intermodal transportation, ensuring a smarter, more sustainable, and cost-effective logistics ecosystem. The launch of Boxlinks marks a significant step forward in streamlining inland supply chain operations.
