By Eva Richardson – The Logistic News

Panama has announced a new integrated maritime and logistics strategy aimed at reinforcing its role as a global logistics hub. Spearheaded by President José Raúl Mulino, this initiative is designed to enhance connectivity, trade facilitation, and infrastructure investment, ensuring Panama remains a strategic player in international shipping and commerce.

Restructuring for Competitiveness

A key component of this plan is the revamping of the Cabinet Logistics Office, now led by Alberto Alemán Zubieta, former administrator of the Panama Canal Authority. This restructuring brings together multiple government ministries and agencies to identify and implement projects that will drive logistics sector growth and revenue generation.

$6 Billion Investment in Logistics and Infrastructure

Panama’s government has outlined $6 billion worth of investment opportunities across infrastructure, logistics, and energy sectors. These investments aim to modernize trade processes, enhance supply chain efficiency, and attract international investors, solidifying the country’s status as a preferred maritime gateway.

A Vision for the Future: Panama as the “Hub of Hubs”

This strategy aligns with Panama’s National Logistics Strategy 2030, which seeks to position the country as a “hub of hubs” by boosting port efficiency, expanding multimodal logistics platforms, and improving maritime connectivity. By streamlining trade regulations and accelerating investment, Panama aims to cement its leadership in global maritime logistics.

What’s Next?

With a robust policy framework and strategic investments, Panama is set to play an even greater role in international logistics and shipping. Industry leaders and stakeholders are closely watching how these initiatives will reshape regional trade routes and attract new business opportunities.
