March 21, 2025 – Chinese e-commerce platform Temu has reportedly signed a long-term lease for a large logistics center in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, marking the first time a Chinese e-commerce operator has secured a dedicated facility in Korea.
According to reports, the new logistics center spans an area equivalent to 23 football fields and features high- and low-temperature storage capabilities. Temu is also considering establishing its Korean headquarters at the site.
Strategic Expansion in Korea
Strategically located near Incheon Airport and major seaports, the facility is expected to serve as a key logistics hub for Temu’s operations in Korea. The center’s management and operations will be overseen by Lotte Global Logistics, a subsidiary of Lotte Corporation.
Strengthening Market Presence
Although Temu entered the Korean e-commerce market four years after its major competitor, AliExpress, the company is rapidly scaling its presence. In 2024, it began recruiting Korean sellers for its online marketplace, and with the establishment of this first logistics center, Temu is solidifying its foothold in the country.
Impact on Korea’s E-Commerce Landscape
By securing a dedicated logistics facility, Temu enhances its ability to provide faster delivery times, improved inventory management, and a stronger fulfillment network for Korean consumers. This move signals fiercer competition in Korea’s growing e-commerce sector, as Temu positions itself as a major contender in the region.
