XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of supply chain solutions, has entered into a long-term partnership with SOPREMA Group, one of the UK’s fastest-growing suppliers of construction products. Under this agreement, XPO will manage the UK distribution needs for SOPREMA and its subsidiaries, including Celotex, YBS Insulation, and Chesterfelt.
Comprehensive Distribution Services
XPO’s role encompasses a wide range of transportation services tailored to meet SOPREMA’s diverse requirements:
- Mechanical Off-Loads: Efficient unloading of heavy materials using specialized equipment.
- Full Truckloads and Groupage Shipments: Optimized transportation solutions for both large and consolidated shipments.
- Pallet Network Deliveries: Streamlined distribution through an extensive pallet network.
To support these operations, a dedicated fleet of 23 trucks and 47 trailers, all branded with SOPREMA’s livery, will be utilized. XPO will also collaborate with haulier partners and leverage pallet network services to efficiently serve SOPREMA’s five UK sites located in Witham, Hadleigh, Eggborough, Worksop, and Chesterfield.
Commitment to Sustainability
A key component of this partnership is a shared commitment to environmental sustainability. XPO plans to transition the dedicated fleet to run on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel by 2025, a renewable alternative that significantly reduces CO2 emissions compared to traditional diesel. Additionally, XPO will implement a bespoke CO2 dashboard, providing real-time data on carbon emissions to help SOPREMA monitor and achieve its sustainability objectives.
