Global freight forwarding and project logistics specialist deugro has promoted Steffen Behrens to the role of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), marking a strategic internal appointment aimed at reinforcing the company’s commercial leadership during a phase of continued global growth.

Behrens, a seasoned logistics professional with more than two decades of industry experience, has been with deugro since 2017. He has played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s presence across the Middle East, operating from its regional hub in Dubai. In 2022, he was named President – Middle East, a position he will temporarily retain while transitioning into his new responsibilities.

During this transition period, Behrens will continue to serve as Chief Operating Officer and President – Middle East, before taking on the CCO role exclusively starting September 1, 2025.

From Regional Success to Global Strategy

Behrens’ extensive background in project logistics spans several global markets, including the United Arab Emirates, China, and Germany, where he held various operational and leadership roles across deugro and other logistics firms.

The appointment reflects deugro’s confidence in internal leadership development and its commitment to strategic continuity at the executive level.

“We are pleased to announce that we have recruited this position from within and that Steffen Behrens has accepted the role as our new CCO,” said Thomas Press, Chairman and Co-Chief Executive of deugro. “I look forward to his insights and leadership as our newest C-Suite member.”

Behrens on the Future

Commenting on his new role, Behrens emphasized his long-standing connection to the company and its global mission.

“As someone who has been part of the deugro family for many years, I am thrilled to embrace this new role and the exciting challenges it brings,” said Behrens. “I am deeply committed to driving our group forward and continuing our global development to further strengthen our position in the industry.”

His appointment comes at a time when project logistics is undergoing a period of transformation, shaped by global supply chain reconfigurations, sustainability pressures, and digitization trends. Behrens is expected to bring a combination of operational insight and commercial acumen to guide deugro through this evolving landscape.

Conclusion

With Steffen Behrens stepping into the role of CCO, deugro signals a focus on both continuity and renewal, drawing on in-house expertise to steer its next phase of global growth. As the logistics sector becomes increasingly complex and competitive, experienced leadership grounded in operational reality will be vital—qualities Behrens brings in abundance.
