China’s e-commerce sector is experiencing a boom in logistics efficiency, according to a new report. The e-commerce logistics index, a key indicator of activity, jumped 1.1 points in March compared to February, reaching 112.5 points. This positive trend is expected to continue as consumer spending strengthens.
The report, co-released by the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing and JD.com, dives deeper into specific areas of improvement. The sub-index tracking overall logistics volume saw a significant rise of 4.2 points to 126.4 points in March. This growth was even more pronounced in rural areas, where the logistics volume sub-index shot up 3.4 points to 127.7 points.
Another encouraging sign is the improvement in delivery timeliness. The sub-index for this metric rose 1.9 points to 99.8 points in March, finally reversing a seven-month decline. This suggests faster deliveries for online shoppers across China.
Overall, the e-commerce logistics market in China is on a positive trajectory. With a strong foundation (the baseline index is set at 100 points), the continued rise in efficiency and timeliness points towards a robust future for online retail in China.
