Parcelhero, the UK-based price comparison and international shipping specialist, has launched a free pallet airfreight guide alongside a new online booking service designed to help ambitious small and medium-sized exporters move from parcel shipping to heavier, palletised international consignments.

The guide is aimed at businesses preparing to ship pallets for the first time, as well as exporters looking to consolidate their international logistics as their activity expands. It brings together key practical information needed before arranging a shipment, including pallet dimensions and weight limits, aircraft height restrictions and compliance requirements, ISPM-15 rules for wooden pallets, and the correct preparation of goods for collection.

David Jinks, Head of Consumer Research at Parcelhero, said the move from parcels to pallets can often make international shipping appear significantly more complicated for growing exporters.

“For a lot of growing exporters, the jump from parcels to pallets is where things start to feel complicated,” he explained. Businesses suddenly have to deal with unfamiliar compliance requirements, pallet dimensions and preparation procedures, alongside concerns about unexpected charges appearing days after they believe a shipment has been booked.

According to Jinks, Parcelhero developed the guide to provide exporters with clear and practical answers before they arrange a shipment.

The company has also sought to simplify the booking process itself. Its new pallet airfreight service provides instant online pricing and booking, allowing businesses to extend the same speed and simplicity they have experienced with parcel shipping to heavier consignments.

Businesses shipping 150 kg or more can now obtain instant online pricing and book door-to-door pallet airfreight within minutes. The service eliminates the need for traditional manual quotations, lengthy email exchanges and the 24- to 48-hour waiting periods that have often accompanied heavier international shipments. International destinations, including the US for both imports and exports, are covered.

The new service is integrated into the same platform already used by businesses for parcel shipping. As shipment volumes and pallet sizes grow, exporters therefore do not have to manage separate providers, portals or account managers.

Customs documentation is generated automatically when the booking is made, while each quotation includes collection, customs handling and delivery.

Parcelhero says the combination of the guide and booking platform gives exporters a single place to check requirements, obtain a door-to-door price and arrange a shipment, reducing the delays and uncertainty often associated with scaling up international shipping.

The launch comes as Parcelhero observes a broader change in demand among its business customers. Many are increasingly outgrowing standard parcel services as their export volumes rise, while remaining too small to justify dedicated freight-forwarding contracts.

By combining practical guidance with a self-service booking platform, Parcelhero aims to provide this segment of exporters with a more straightforward way to expand internationally without adding unnecessary complexity to their logistics operations.
