CALGARY, ALTA. – Enbridge Inc. has announced that its chief executive officer, Greg Ebel, will retire at the end of this year, bringing an end to his leadership of the company. He will be succeeded by Michele Harradence, currently responsible for Enbridge’s gas utilities operations.
Harradence, who serves as Enbridge’s executive vice-president and president of gas distribution and storage, will officially assume the role of chief executive on January 1.
Following his departure from the CEO position, Ebel will continue to support the company during the transition. Enbridge said he will serve as an adviser to both the board and Harradence from January through May 2027.
Harradence has led Enbridge’s gas utilities business since 2022. Prior to taking on that role, she served as senior vice-president and chief operations officer for Enbridge’s gas transmission and midstream business, which is based in Houston.
Before joining Enbridge in 2014, Harradence held several senior executive positions at Shell Canada, including the role of general manager of Shell’s Sarnia manufacturing centre in Ontario.
Ebel joined Enbridge in 2017, following the merger between Enbridge and Spectra Energy. Previously the chief executive of Spectra Energy, he became chair of the Enbridge board after the two companies combined. He was subsequently appointed president and CEO of Enbridge in January 2023.
The leadership transition will see Harradence take charge of one of North America’s major energy infrastructure companies, while Ebel remains involved in an advisory capacity during the first months of her tenure.
