Ukraine’s Supernova Airlines has been approved to operate non-scheduled cargo flights to Colombo after receiving a Foreign Air Operator Certificate (FAOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL). The approval covers operations with Boeing 737-800 aircraft and will help improve air cargo connectivity between Ukraine and Sri Lanka.
Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of CAASL Daminda Rambukwella handed over the certificate to Supernova Airlines and received by Accountable Manager of Supernova Airlines Tinesh Guneshkumaran. The presentation was attended by representatives of the airline, Prabath Samarathunga and Charles Nirmalanathan and Lasantha Dahanayake, Deputy Director General of Flight Safety Regulations of CAASL.
This authorization is subject to an assessment of the airline’s operational, technical and organizational capabilities. The certification process was completed according to the aviation regulations of Sri Lanka and the Standards and Recommended Practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Having received the necessary regulatory approvals, Supernova Airlines is now able to operate non-scheduled cargo flights between Ukraine and Sri Lanka. The move is expected to boost air cargo connectivity between the two countries and support the growth of the aviation and logistics sectors of Sri Lanka.
CAASL reiterated its commitment to promote international air transport, ensuring foreign operators’ compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements and civil aviation safety standards.
