In a major step toward greener port operations, CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal has announced the acquisition of cutting-edge hybrid Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes from Konecranes. This upgrade is expected to significantly enhance efficiency and sustainability at one of Spain’s busiest container terminals, reinforcing its commitment to eco-friendly logistics.

The integration of these hybrid RTGs aligns with CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal’s long-term strategy to reduce carbon emissions and modernize its handling operations. The Konecranes equipment will cut fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by up to 50% compared to conventional diesel-powered RTGs, contributing to the broader industry goal of decarbonizing port activities.

The adoption of hybrid crane technology marks a crucial advancement for the terminal, which serves as a key hub in Mediterranean trade routes. The new RTGs are designed to operate with increased energy efficiency while maintaining high performance, ensuring a seamless transition to more sustainable cargo-handling solutions.

Industry experts highlight that investing in hybrid and fully electric port equipment is becoming an essential step for global terminals striving to meet stricter environmental regulations. By deploying Konecranes’ advanced hybrid cranes, CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal positions itself as a forward-thinking player in the maritime logistics sector, setting an example for other ports aiming to balance operational efficiency with sustainability.

With the global push toward cleaner energy solutions in logistics, this development underlines the growing demand for innovative port technology that minimizes environmental impact while enhancing productivity.
