Aeromexico has resumed its direct service between Mexico City and Quito, restoring a key air link that strengthens connectivity between Ecuador and global markets.
The route is operated with a Boeing 737 MAX 8 and will run four times per week. The return flight departed shortly after a relaunch ceremony attended by senior aviation and government representatives.
The reinstatement of the route provides passengers and cargo operators with direct access to Mexico City, while also opening up onward connections across North America, Europe and Asia through Aeromexico’s network.
From Mexico, the airline offers domestic connections to major cities including Monterrey, Guadalajara, Cancún, Mérida, Querétaro, Huatulco and Oaxaca. Internationally, passengers can connect to destinations such as Montreal, Toronto, Amsterdam, London, Madrid, Paris, Rome, Tokyo and Seoul.
Ramón Miró, President and CEO of Quiport, said Aeromexico’s return is strategically important for Quito’s Mariscal Sucre Airport. He highlighted the role of a major global carrier in expanding connectivity while offering reliability and a strong passenger experience.
Pepe Zapata, Vice President of Sales for North and Latin America at Aeromexico, said the airline continues to expand its global network and sees Quito as a key addition. The route strengthens connectivity between Ecuador and more than 40 destinations in Mexico, 25 in the United States, three in Canada, six in Europe and two in Asia.
Government officials also underlined the broader economic implications. Acting Vice Minister of Tourism María José Reshuan said the route supports tourism development while strengthening cultural ties. Etzon Romo, Secretary of Productive Economic Development, added that improved connectivity enhances access to global markets and supports industrial productivity and job creation.
