Awake.AI, a leader in maritime digitalization, has won a tender to develop an advanced digital solution for estimating and reducing CO₂ emissions at ports. The initiative, part of the Sustainable Flow project, is poised to revolutionize the way ports and logistics operators address environmental challenges while improving operational efficiency.

A Holistic Approach to Emission Tracking

The new digital tool designed by Awake.AI will provide ports with:

  1. Comprehensive Emission Reporting:
    • Tracks emissions across scope 1 (direct emissions), scope 2 (indirect emissions from energy), and scope 3 (other indirect emissions throughout the supply chain).
  2. Actionable Insights:
    • Identifies key emission sources and generates up-to-date data to guide energy-saving measures.
    • Offers practical solutions to optimize logistical operations and reduce carbon footprints.

Implementation Across Key Ports

The solution will initially be deployed in seven pilot ports, which serve as critical nodes in the Baltic and Nordic regions:

  • Rauma and Pori in Finland.
  • Norrköping and Oxelösund in Sweden.
  • Mariehamn (Åland Islands).
  • Tallinn in Estonia.
  • Riga in Latvia.

These ports will utilize the tool to measure, analyze, and reduce emissions associated with maritime and land transport.

The Sustainable Flow Project

The Sustainable Flow project aims to create a greener logistics ecosystem by optimizing intermodal and multimodal transport systems. Key goals include:

  • Reducing CO₂ emissions at transport hubs.
  • Improving the environmental performance of supply chains.
  • Leveraging real-world pilots to validate sustainable strategies.

Awake.AI’s digital solution is a cornerstone of this ambitious project, helping ports align with global climate goals and operational standards.

A Step Toward Greener Logistics

Awake.AI’s commitment to sustainability and innovation positions the company as a trailblazer in the maritime and logistics sectors. By integrating advanced analytics and logistics optimization, this project will not only reduce emissions but also set a new standard for operational efficiency in ports worldwide.

Looking Ahead

As ports adopt Awake.AI’s technology, the maritime industry will gain valuable insights into the environmental impact of their operations, paving the way for long-term sustainable practices. This initiative exemplifies how digitalization can drive meaningful change in global logistics.
