Awery Aviation Software is strengthening its commercial leadership with the appointment of Gianluca Marcangelo as Executive Vice President of Global Sales, as the aviation technology provider continues to expand its customer base worldwide.
Marcangelo joins Awery with more than 25 years of international experience in the air cargo industry. His background spans sales, marketing, operations, digital innovation and aviation software, giving him experience across both the operational and technological sides of the sector.
Throughout his career, Marcangelo has held senior leadership positions with airlines, cargo operators and aviation technology companies. His previous roles include positions at Challenge Group and Oman Air.
The appointment comes at a time when the air cargo industry is undergoing a significant digital transformation. Artificial intelligence, increased connectivity and standards such as IATA ONE Record are reshaping the way companies manage operations and conduct business.
“Air cargo is at a pivotal point in its digital transformation, as AI, greater connectivity, and standards such as IATA ONE Record change how companies operate and do business,” said Marcangelo.
He said Awery’s combination of agility, technology and industry expertise provides a strong foundation for turning digital transformation into practical commercial and operational benefits for customers.
Marcangelo added that he will work closely with customers and industry stakeholders to identify where technology can make the greatest difference. His remit will also include expanding Awery’s international presence and supporting the company through its next stage of growth.
Awery is seeking further expansion among airlines, general sales and service agents (GSSAs) and charter brokers, while continuing to support a broad range of air cargo operators. Its customer base also includes onboard courier (OBC) providers and e-commerce businesses.
Tristan Koch, Chief Commercial Officer at Awery, said Marcangelo’s experience would help the company bridge the gap between air cargo operations and technology.
“Gianluca understands both the operational realities of air cargo and how technology can help businesses become more efficient and commercially successful. As Awery continues to grow globally, his commercial experience and industry knowledge will be instrumental in bringing our technology to more customers and strengthening the partnerships we have already built.”
Marcangelo’s arrival also comes as Awery prepares for its participation in the EU Cross-Border E-commerce Forum in Liège, Belgium. He will join Awery Founder and Chief Executive Officer Vitaly Smilianets at the event, which will take place from September 8–10, 2026.
