Zhao Leji, China’s top legislator and chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, held a meeting on Monday with To Lam, the president and general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, in Beijing. The two leaders discussed enhancing the bilateral relationship between their countries, focusing on building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
Zhao emphasized China’s commitment to working closely with Vietnam to implement the strategic consensus reached by their top leaders. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in advancing each nation’s socialist modernization efforts. Zhao also expressed China’s readiness to deepen cooperation between the NPC and the National Assembly of Vietnam, particularly in the areas of legislation and supervision. This collaboration, he noted, would provide a solid legal foundation for the construction of a China-Vietnam community with shared goals and aspirations.
To Lam reaffirmed Vietnam’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with China, calling it a strategic choice and top priority for his country. He expressed Vietnam’s willingness to enhance practical cooperation across various sectors and to maintain close exchanges between their legislative bodies. To Lam highlighted the significance of this partnership, emphasizing its strategic importance in fostering a community with a shared future for both nations.
