Cosco Shipping Car Carriers has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with UECC to strengthen vehicle logistics between China and Europe.
The partnership aims to address key challenges in the sector, including tight shipping capacity, inefficient regional distribution and congestion at European ports.
Cosco said European automotive logistics is undergoing major change, with ports facing infrastructure limitations, cargo handling constraints, storage pressure and serious congestion.
At the same time, China’s vehicle exports to Europe are growing rapidly, creating additional pressure on shipping space, vessel schedules and turnover efficiency.
The two companies plan to develop a seamless intermodal network combining deep-sea transport with European regional feeder services.
The objective is to create a safer, more efficient, greener and more reliable automotive logistics supply chain between China and Europe.
Cosco Shipping Car Carriers currently operates 31 car carriers and six international liner routes connecting China with the Middle East, Northwest Europe, Southeast Africa, the west coast of South America, the Mediterranean, Australia and New Zealand.
The company’s fleet includes 24 newly built LNG dual-fuel car carriers with capacities ranging from 7,000 to 8,600 units, which are expected to become central to greener transport on China-Europe routes.
