Davies Turner is growing its air freight operation in the UK with a new 130,000 square foot logistics site near Heathrow Airport. Davies Turner Air Cargo will take up residence on the site, further consolidating the group’s operational footprint at the UK’s leading international air cargo gateway.
The site enjoys an excellent location within two miles of Heathrow cargo terminal and some 500 yards from Junction 14 of the M25 expressway. Its relative proximity to the airport and major road infrastructure means it offers convenient access to major transport links and international markets.
The site provides approximately 70,000 sq ft of warehouse space with a clear internal height of 12.5 meters. Two mezzanine floors providing an additional 50,000 sq ft of operational space increase the facility’s capacity to accommodate air freight activities. The building also has five dock loading doors, two level access loading doors and 10,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation.
The investment is part of Davies Turner’s long-term strategy to increase operational capacity, improve efficiency and meet the changing needs of its customers. The company hopes to establish its air cargo headquarters at the new site to create more room for expansion and enhance its service capabilities around Heathrow.
Sustainability is another characteristic of the development. The property is BREEAM Excellent and EPC A+ rated, testifying to its high environmental performance and energy efficiency credentials.
“This purchase is a significant step forward for the business and reflects our commitment to the UK air freight market,” said James Wheatley, Managing Director of Davies Turner Air Cargo.
“This acquisition is a key milestone for Davies Turner Air Cargo and confirms our long-term commitment to the UK air freight market. Heathrow continues to be the UK’s number one international cargo gateway and this strategically located facility provides an outstanding platform for us to support our customers’ future growth. “The investment gives us the capacity, infrastructure and operational flexibility to continue to develop our services for many years to come,” he said.
The facility is being prepared for operations and is scheduled to have an official opening later this year.
