DSV invests $90 million in new logistics hub to boost US–Mexico freight operations

The 853,000-square-foot facility in Laredo, Texas, brings warehousing, transportation and customs services together, reinforcing DSV’s cross-border network following the opening of a new office in McAllen.

DSV has expanded its logistics infrastructure along the US–Mexico border with the opening of a $90 million facility in Laredo, Texas. Covering 853,000 square feet, the new site is designed to increase the company’s capacity to manage freight flows between the two countries, one of North America’s most important trade corridors.

The global logistics provider announced the opening on Wednesday, highlighting the facility’s integrated approach to freight management. Warehousing, transportation, customs brokerage, inventory management and distribution services are now consolidated within a single complex.

The investment forms part of DSV’s broader strategy to strengthen its cross-border logistics network across North America. It follows the recent opening of a new office in McAllen, Texas, adding to the company’s presence in a region central to US–Mexico trade.

“Our Laredo facility is a milestone in DSV’s strategy to lead with innovation and scale,” said Josh Summers, CEO of Contract Logistics, North America, in a company news release. “We’re committed to helping our customers grow by providing smarter, more agile logistics solutions.”

A strategic location for cross-border freight

Situated along Interstate 35, the new multi-client facility occupies a strategic position in Laredo, one of the busiest gateways for commercial trade between the United States and Mexico.

DSV broke ground on the project in July 2025. The 49-acre site is located within Majestic Realty’s Port Grande Logistics Park, a 2,000-acre industrial development intended to accommodate logistics and industrial activities.

The facility supports a broad range of operations, including cross-docking, e-commerce fulfilment, inventory management, distribution and cross-border transportation. By bringing these activities together, DSV aims to provide shippers with a more integrated solution for moving goods through the border region.

Its customs and storage capabilities are another central component of the development. The site offers bonded warehousing and Foreign-Trade Zone storage, alongside northbound US customs services and on-site Mexican customs processing.

These services are intended to help companies reduce delays, simplify customs clearance procedures and improve visibility over freight movements between the two markets.

Expanding DSV’s presence along the border

The Laredo facility and the new McAllen office complement DSV’s existing border operations in Brownsville, El Paso and Los Indios, Texas, as well as San Diego, California. Together, these locations reinforce the company’s operational footprint along key US–Mexico trade routes.

The investment also comes as freight market conditions in Laredo offer shippers considerable negotiating leverage with carriers. According to FreightWaves SONAR data, the Outbound Tender Rejection Index (STRI) fell to 5.10% on October 21, down from 8.15% a month earlier.

The index tracks the proportion of freight tenders rejected by carriers, providing an indication of capacity conditions and the balance of negotiating power between shippers and transport providers.

DSV’s expansion builds on its wider international network, which employs approximately 150,000 people across more than 90 countries. The company’s latest investment adds capacity and a broader range of integrated services at a major North American trade gateway.

For shippers moving goods between the United States and Mexico, the development brings warehousing, transport and customs processing together in one location, with the aim of making cross-border supply chains more efficient and predictable.
