Fincantieri has expanded its international network of partnerships in the naval defence sector, signing four strategic agreements at Euronaval 2026, the maritime defence exhibition currently taking place in Paris. The agreements cover European industrial cooperation, the development of business opportunities in Indonesia and the introduction of advanced technologies for next-generation naval vessels.

European cooperation on the European Patrol Corvette programme

On the European front, Fincantieri, Navantia and Naval Group have signed the Consortium Agreement for the second phase of the European Patrol Corvette programme (EPC2).

The agreement marks the transition from the initial design stage towards preparations for the production of a new generation of modular, multi-role corvettes.

Also within the EPC programme, Fincantieri and Navantia have signed a Heads of Agreement setting out the main terms for the establishment of an equally owned joint venture. The proposed company will serve as a shared industrial and commercial platform, supporting the two groups' respective national programmes as well as potential export opportunities.

New joint venture to develop business in Indonesia

The Asian market is the focus of a separate agreement signed by Fincantieri and REPUBLIKORP, through its subsidiary PT Republik Palindo Internasional.

The two parties have concluded a Joint Venture Agreement to establish a company in Indonesia. The initiative is intended to develop new commercial opportunities while contributing to the strengthening of local industrial and technological capabilities.

Advanced modular systems for naval vessels

Fincantieri has also signed a Letter of Intent with Danish company J.A. Solutions to launch industrial cooperation on advanced modular and containerised systems for reconfigurable naval vessels.

The partnership aims to increase the operational flexibility of naval platforms and broaden their mission capabilities through the integration of different modules. This approach would allow vessels to be adapted to changing operational requirements by modifying their onboard configuration.

Further agreement with Leonardo and presentation of the MMMV

The four agreements add to the Letter of Intent announced on Tuesday with Leonardo. That initiative is intended to further consolidate the role of Orizzonte Sistemi Navali (OSN) and strengthen the two groups' industrial and technological capabilities in both domestic and international markets.

During the Paris exhibition, Fincantieri also presented its Multi-Mission Modular Vessel (MMMV), a new military platform designed to accommodate different operational requirements through an open, modular architecture.

The vessel can carry a range of containerised payloads, allowing its configuration to be changed according to the mission to be performed.

The planned applications include maritime security and surveillance, countering illicit trafficking and piracy, information gathering, underwater operations, communications intelligence and the protection of critical maritime infrastructure.

The platform has also been designed to support combat missions, broadening its potential role across a range of naval and security operations.

Through its agreements at Euronaval and the presentation of the MMMV, Fincantieri is pursuing partnerships and technologies intended to strengthen its position in naval defence, combining European industrial cooperation with opportunities for expansion in international markets.
