Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding has secured contracts for up to eight feeder container ships from two Greek owners, reinforcing its momentum in the boxship newbuilding market. The orders cover two vessel classes and involve both Erasmus Shipinvest Group and Venergy Maritime Limited.
The deals include 2+2 units of 1,800 teu ships for Erasmus Shipinvest and 2+2 units of 1,900 teu vessels for Venergy Maritime. The 1,800 teu ships are based on an upgraded version of Huangpu Wenchong’s Honghu-class design, featuring optimised hull lines and advanced energy-saving technology intended to reduce fuel use while maintaining manoeuvrability and operational flexibility.
For Erasmus Shipinvest, the contract represents its first order at Huangpu Wenchong and a strategic step to strengthen fleet structure and expand capacity. Venergy’s order, meanwhile, builds on an existing relationship with the yard and further reinforces cooperation between the two parties.
The builder said the contracts underline the continued popularity of its Honghu feeder designs on the international market and confirm strong demand for feeder container tonnage despite the volatility now affecting global shipping.
