Kiva Systems Founders Honored
The founders of Kiva Systems—Mick Mountz, Dr. Peter Wurman, and Prof. Dr. Raffaello D’Andrea—were inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame for revolutionizing warehouse automation. Their development of mobile robotics introduced the “goods-to-person” concept, enabling efficient same-day deliveries that have become a cornerstone of modern e-commerce.
Logistics Leader of the Year 2023
Hendrik Kramer, CEO and co-founder of FERNRIDE, received the Logistics Leader of the Year 2023 award for his innovative approach to “Human-Assisted Autonomy.” His work integrates autonomous vehicle technology with human oversight, paving the way for safer and more efficient electric transport in logistics.
Humanitarian Efforts Recognized
The Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics was awarded to the Kenyan aid organization Strategies for Northern Development (SND) for its impactful “Horn of Africa Extreme Weather Response” project. SND provided rapid assistance to over 1,200 households affected by severe weather, ensuring access to essential supplies.
