Logistics UK has strengthened its representation in Northern Ireland with the appointment of Brenda Maguire as its new Northern Ireland Policy Lead, based at the organisation’s Belfast office.

The appointment is intended to give the region’s logistics industry a stronger voice as businesses continue to deal with changing trading arrangements, international uncertainty and the transition towards a greener economy.

Maguire brings more than 16 years of experience in policy and campaigning roles. Throughout her career, she has represented major organisations and industries across Northern Ireland, including large health charities as well as businesses in retail, hospitality and banking.

In her new position, Maguire will lead Logistics UK’s policy work in Northern Ireland. She will engage with the organisation’s members, political stakeholders and industry partners to identify industry priorities, represent their interests and advocate for policies that support the logistics sector.

Her appointment comes at a significant time for Northern Ireland’s supply chains. The region continues to adapt to its post-Brexit trading arrangements while facing wider global uncertainty and increasing pressure to move towards more sustainable economic and logistics models.

Maguire said she was pleased to be joining Logistics UK at an important moment for Northern Ireland, highlighting the sector’s central role in supporting the wider economy.

“Logistics underpins every part of the economy, and as we navigate the post-Brexit environment, global uncertainty and move towards a greener economy, an efficient logistics sector is critical for economic prosperity and supply chain stability,” she said.

She added that she looked forward to working with Logistics UK members across Northern Ireland to understand their priorities, represent their interests and help ensure the sector can continue operating safely, efficiently and sustainably within the region’s unique trading position.

Logistics UK Chief Executive Ben Fletcher also welcomed the appointment, describing Northern Ireland as having a unique and important role within the UK supply chain.

“Northern Ireland has a unique and important role within the UK supply chain, and it is vital that the logistics sector has a strong voice as policy continues to evolve,” Fletcher said.

He added that Maguire’s appointment would strengthen the organisation’s ability to represent the industry, support its members and highlight the contribution of logistics to economic growth.

Logistics UK describes itself as one of the UK’s largest business groups and the only trade body representing the entire logistics sector. Through the new Belfast-based role, the organisation aims to reinforce its engagement with Northern Ireland’s logistics community and ensure its priorities remain part of the evolving policy debate.
