Qantas Freight has launched new dedicated freighter services to Singapore, adding a fresh layer of cargo connectivity to Changi Airport and expanding options for freight forwarders across the Asia Pacific.

The new route began on 3 April 2026 and operates twice weekly on a Sydney-Shanghai-Singapore-Sydney rotation. Flights are carried out on Fridays and Sundays using Qantas’ A330 freighter, offering more than 50 tonnes of cargo capacity per service.

This is the first time Qantas has operated a dedicated freighter into Singapore, complementing the airline’s existing belly-hold cargo capacity on passenger services. The move reflects growing demand for time-sensitive freight moving between Australia, China, Southeast Asia and beyond.

For Changi Airport, the additional stop further strengthens its position as a regional consolidation and transshipment hub. Lim Ching Kiat, executive vice president for Air Hub and Cargo Development at Changi Airport Group, said the timing was important as Asia Pacific continues to play a larger role in global air cargo growth. He added that the extended routing would further reinforce Changi’s role in connecting trade between Australia, China, Europe and Southeast Asia.

Qantas Freight executive manager Igor Kwiatkowski said Singapore was one of the world’s leading cargo hubs and would play an important part in linking shipments between Australia, China and Southeast Asia. He noted that the new stop would give forwarders more routing choice and schedule flexibility, especially for high-tech cargo and e-commerce traffic.
