STG Logistics has appointed Jack Holmes as its new CEO, effective immediately, as the intermodal marketing company moves into its next phase following a major financial restructuring.

Holmes succeeds Geoff Anderman, who guided the company through its most recent restructuring. STG also announced a series of interim leadership appointments and changes to its board of directors.

Holmes joins STG after a 37-year career at UPS, where he held a range of leadership positions, including president and CEO of UPS Freight, before retiring in 2016. Since then, he has held board and executive positions with several transportation and logistics companies.

As part of his new role, Holmes will also join STG’s board.

“The Board selected Holmes for the industry knowledge and operational expertise needed to build on the Company’s financial and operational progress, and to drive its continued growth,” the company said in a news release.

STG also appointed Clinton Smith as interim chief financial officer, replacing Tyler Holtgreven, and Cherie Schaible as interim general counsel. Smith brings more than 25 years of financial leadership experience and has worked with private-equity-backed companies on restructurings and integrations.

Anderman became STG’s CEO in April 2025 after having held a leadership position at the asset-based intermodal marketing company since 2017.

The company credited Anderman and Holtgreven with successfully steering STG through its Chapter 11 restructuring, a process that reduced its funded debt by 90%. Anderman will remain with STG as an adviser during the leadership transition, while Holtgreven will stay with the company through Nov. 1.

New board leadership

STG has also named Gary Enzor as chairman of the board.

Enzor has served as a director on the boards of other transportation and logistics companies. From 2004 until the sale of the business to CSX in 2021, he led Quality Distribution, described as North America’s largest liquid bulk chemical trucking network.

“Jack has spent his entire career in this industry, from the loading dock to the CEO’s office, and he brings a rare combination of operational depth and experience building and scaling businesses,” Enzor said. “He is the right choice to lead STG as it accelerates growth and continues investing in the business.”

The company has also appointed John Labrie, Joe Troy, Dave Ebbrecht and Darren Hawkins as directors. Hawkins previously led Yellow Corp., which ceased operations in July 2023.

The new directors join existing board member Tom Donohue.

STG emerges from Chapter 11 with new capital

STG entered into a pre-packaged Chapter 11 agreement in January as part of a broader recapitalization plan.

Under the plan, the company reduced its funded debt by more than $1 billion and secured $150 million in new capital from a group of investors that includes Fortress, Fidelity and Invesco.

The restructuring significantly reshaped STG’s financial position as the company prepares to move forward under its new leadership team.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Geoff and Tyler for their leadership through one of the most pivotal periods in the Company’s history,” Enzor said. “Thanks to their efforts, STG’s new leadership team inherits a strong foundation and real momentum, and we look forward to partnering closely with them to deliver on the significant opportunities ahead.”

Why It Matters

STG Logistics’ emergence from Chapter 11, supported by nearly $1 billion in debt reduction and $150 million in new capital, helps preserve capacity and stability within the intermodal market.

At the same time, the appointment of experienced transportation and logistics executives places significant industry and operational expertise at the center of STG’s next phase. For shippers, the company’s continued operation provides another competitive option in the intermodal market, while the strengthened financial position gives STG a foundation from which to pursue future growth.
