Swissport continues its expansion in specialized logistics with the opening of a new center dedicated to perishable goods at London-Heathrow Airport. Covering an area of nearly 2,700 m², this facility is designed to handle up to 30,000 tons of temperature-sensitive goods per year.
The site integrates state-of-the-art infrastructure for the management of fresh food products, flowers, pharmaceuticals, and goods under strict thermal control. The objective is clear: to provide optimal continuity of the cold chain, from the arrival of the cargo to its redistribution to British and European markets.
This initiative comes in a context of strong growth in the flow of perishable goods transported by air, driven notably by the globalization of food chains, the demand for fresh products year-round, and the rise of sensitive pharmaceutical products. By strengthening its presence at Heathrow, Swissport consolidates its position as the world leader in specialized cargo handling and meets the growing demands of shippers in terms of reliability, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
