Title J.B. Hunt and Overroute Unveil AI Freight Execution Platform for Enterprise Carriers

J.B. Hunt Transport Services has officially introduced Overroute’s AI-powered freight execution platform to the market after more than a year of joint development and testing. Designed for carriers and logistics operators, the solution aims to simplify freight execution by embedding artificial intelligence into existing enterprise carrier systems rather than replacing them. 
 
The platform relies on AI agents capable of automating shipment coordination throughout the transportation process. These agents continuously analyze live operational data, identify potential disruptions or exceptions, assist with customer communications and support daily logistics activities while operating seamlessly within a carrier’s current technology environment. By reducing manual intervention, the platform is intended to help fleets improve asset utilization and operational efficiency over time. 
 
Nick Hobbs, Chief Operating Officer at J.B. Hunt, said the company’s large-scale freight network provides an ideal environment to deploy emerging technologies in real-world operations. According to Hobbs, Overroute reflects J.B. Hunt’s broader strategy of using artificial intelligence to reduce operational friction and improve the execution of freight across its network every day. 
 
The technology has already been rolled out across J.B. Hunt’s business units, where AI agents are now supporting the management of millions of freight loads behind the scenes. 
 
Overroute CEO Alex Reed said the platform has been developed and tested under the demanding conditions of enterprise logistics, including handling operational exceptions, complex scenarios, organizational change management and situations that require human decision-making. He described Overroute as a new category of freight technology, built alongside J.B. Hunt’s operational teams using real freight workflows, live operational data, actual users and measurable performance results. 
 
Overroute was created through J.B. Hunt’s partnership with UP.Labs, an initiative launched in October 2024 to incubate startups focused on solving common challenges across the freight transportation industry. The company is the first startup to emerge from the collaboration.
