The performance of maritime lines remains under pressure as reliability analysis tools become more transparent for shippers. Despite a general decline in the punctuality of container shipping companies, the Gemini alliance led by Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd manages to limit the damage by showing results slightly above market levels.
This relative improvement, however, does not mask a more complex reality: the promises of achieving high levels of on-time deliveries remain difficult to keep in an environment marked by persistent congestion and constant operational adjustments.
As the transpacific contract season approaches, reliability indicators are becoming a major strategic argument for shippers. The year 2026 could thus mark a turning point in the way carriers’ performances are evaluated, with increased pressure to offer more visibility and transparency.
