OIA Global has expanded its US network with the acquisition of Cargo Services, Inc. (CSI), a long-established freight forwarding and customs brokerage firm headquartered in Indianapolis.
The move strengthens OIA’s position in the Midwest, a region closely tied to manufacturing and industrial supply chains, and adds a strong layer of local expertise and long-standing customer relationships.
Founded in 1992 by John Rowe and Steve Fugate, CSI brings more than three decades of experience across ocean freight, air cargo, customs brokerage and warehousing. The acquisition also gives OIA a direct operational presence in Indianapolis, aligning with its strategy to expand its owned network in key domestic logistics hubs.
Chief executive Jeff Barrie described Indianapolis as one of the most connected logistics cities in the US, highlighting the value of CSI’s long-standing customer trust and regional reputation.
Mabel Rodriguez, managing director for the Americas at OIA Global, said the cultural alignment between the two companies was a key factor in the deal. She noted that CSI’s customer retention and service-driven approach mirror OIA’s own values, creating opportunities to deliver added value through the integration of global capabilities.
For CSI’s leadership, the deal represents continuity as much as expansion. Co-founder Steve Fugate said the company was built on a commitment to customers, employees and community, and that OIA Global shares those same principles.
John Rowe added that CSI’s customers will continue working with the same teams they have relied on for years, but will now benefit from access to a broader international network.
OIA confirmed that operations will continue as normal, with a focus on ensuring a seamless transition for both employees and customers.
