Oman Air has appointed Nasser Al Sharji as its new Chief Executive Officer, bringing an experienced executive to lead the national carrier through its next phase of development and transformation.
Al Sharji has more than 25 years of leadership experience across several key sectors in Oman. He previously held senior positions at ASYAD Group, OQ and Nama Water Services, where he was involved in major national projects and organisational transformation initiatives.
Before joining Oman Air, Al Sharji served as Chief Executive Officer of Transom and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Oman Airports, giving him direct experience in both aviation operations and the wider Omani transport sector.
He holds an Executive MBA and has also served on several boards and chaired committees across different industries.
Commenting on the appointment, Saeed Al Mawali, Chairman of Oman Air and Oman’s Minister of Transformation, Communications and Information Technology, highlighted Al Sharji’s extensive leadership background and understanding of the aviation industry.
Al Mawali said the new CEO has demonstrated a strong ability to lead organisations through periods of transformation and change, experience that will be important as Oman Air continues to develop its operations and strengthen its position.
The appointment places Al Sharji at the head of Oman’s national airline at a time when the aviation sector continues to evolve, with carriers facing growing pressure to improve operational efficiency, strengthen connectivity and adapt to changing market conditions.
