Asyad Shipping Company has agreed to acquire two second-hand Kamsarmax bulk carriers for approximately $72.7 million as it continues expanding its dry bulk business.
According to a stock exchange filing, the two vessels were built in 2023, each have a deadweight capacity of 85,000 tonnes, and are expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Chief executive Dr Ibrahim Al-Nadhairi said the acquisition will strengthen the company’s dry bulk capabilities and support its ability to deliver more efficient services to customers. He added that with the expansion, Asyad Shipping’s owned dry bulk fleet will reach 16 vessels with a combined capacity of about 3 million dwt, making it the largest in the region.
The company said the larger fleet will help it meet growing global demand while reinforcing its operational reach.
Asyad Shipping’s dry bulk portfolio already includes four owned VLOCs and six owned Ultramax vessels. Across all segments — including crude, dry bulk, gas, liner and products — the Omani group operates a fleet of around 90 ships.
