IAG Cargo, the cargo arm of International Airlines Group, has unveiled a new online initiative aimed at helping young people discover career opportunities in the fast-moving world of air cargo and global logistics.

Called “Virtual Work Experience”, the free self-guided programme is accessible to anyone aged 14 and over, offering participants an immersive first look into how air cargo operations function behind the scenes.

Through a mix of interactive modules, guided learning and scenario-based exercises, learners are introduced to the operational reality of the aviation logistics sector. Participants are invited to step into the role of a cargo agent, following a shipment through key stages including cargo acceptance, build-up, aircraft loading and final handover.

The programme has been designed to make the industry more accessible to younger audiences while showcasing the broad range of careers available across aviation and logistics.

Alongside operational simulations, the online experience also includes videos, quizzes and a dedicated CV workshop intended to help participants build early professional skills while learning more about IAG Cargo’s products, supply chain activities and day-to-day operations.

Available globally, the training can be completed in one session or followed progressively at the learner’s own pace. Once completed, participants receive a certificate signed by senior company leaders, which can be added to their CVs. Learners can also choose to receive updates about future learning opportunities or in-person work experience placements offered by IAG Cargo.

The launch forms part of IAG Cargo’s wider strategy to strengthen its future talent pipeline and encourage more young people to explore careers in aviation logistics at a time when the industry continues to focus on workforce renewal and skills development.

The company already invests heavily in early career development through apprenticeships and its Graduate Programme, which offers 24-month placements across departments including logistics, commercial and data. Those placements provide hands-on experience at the company’s major hubs in London Heathrow and Madrid, with many graduates later moving into permanent positions within IAG Cargo or the wider IAG group.

IAG Cargo was also recently recognised as a Top Employer in the UK for the third consecutive year, underlining its long-term ambition to position itself as a leading workplace within the aviation and logistics sector.
